LI-FI Technology

What is Li-fi technology ?  

                     

• It is the abbreviation of term Light Fidelity .  
• Simply means that it is the light based WI-FI technology .
• As we know WI-FI is a fully bidirectional network wireless communication technology in which data is transmitted by radio waves . 

While in LI-FI technology data is transmitted in the form of visible lights using LED light source -So household LED light bulb and lamps which are used as a light source are also used to transmitted the data .

 Principal of LI-FI Technology -

 If we used a LED bulb and if we provide constant current to that then it gives us to the constant illumination or brightness so if we change the constant current  the brightness will also change so this principal is used in LI-FI technology for transmitted the wireless data  .

    Lets see how ? 

1. If light bulb is on and we can Say  that current is maximum and that will be treated as digital 1 so digital 1 is transmitted at the receiver end .                 
2. If  no current in LED bulb the brightness is minimum and that will be treated as digital 0 so this digital 0 is transmitted at the receiver end .                      
3. So in this way by flickering the LED bulb very rapidly we transmitted the data in the form of 1's and 0's at the receiver end , and if this flickering is accruing in million times then we cant see this by naked eyes and we can treat this LED bulb as a normal regular source . 

so now let us see the schematic of the LI-FI transmitter and receiver system - 

• The data which is coming from the web server firstly it goes to the modem which provides the necessary modulation to the given data . 
• This modulated data is fade into LED driver which changes the driving current for the LED bulb according to the incoming streaming data at the receiver end . 
• If you see the optical data first converted into electrical signal using photodiode and after the signal conditioning this given data is being fade into the computer or a laptop .

So to receive this incoming data at the receiver side we require the LIFI dongle , which consist of a photodiode as well as a IR transmitter .... Now this IR transmitter can be used to transmitted the upling data back to the LED source .
